In recent months, I noticed that my eyes have been feeling more strained and exhausted. This is due to using my laptop for numerous hours on a regular basis. So, I was on the search for a product that would help to relieve my eye strain, and I came across the Reposé Self Heating Eye Mask by Ideal Concepts. I decided to try out this product since it is the weekend, and I want to focus on self-care.

wearing mask.jpeg

The eye mask was flat when I first opened it, and it fully heated up within a minute. Immediately, I felt relaxed due to the warmness of the eye mask. The temperature was perfect for me, and I did not experience any discomfort at all. It was relaxing to the point that I almost fell asleep!

Around 20 minutes later, the eye mask puffed up, and that is when I knew that I had to take it off. My eyes felt refreshed and less strained already. I wish that I discovered this self heating eye mask earlier on, but I am happy that I found something that works well for me. The creators also mentioned that this product can help with reducing eye puffiness and dark circles, and that sounds very promising.

This is a great way for me to destress and relieve my eye strain at the comfort of my own home. The package is compact enough to be carried on the go, and I can imagine that this would be very relaxing to use during a flight.

repose eye mask packaging.jpeg

How to Use:

Once you open a single mask package, it will automatically heat up within 30 seconds to 1 minute. This is done by the air-activated self-heating technology. It is unscented, but you can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil or aromatherapy as well. Wrap the straps around the ears, keep your eyes closed while wearing it for 25-30 minutes, and discard after use.

Ingredients:

Iron powder, activated carbon powder, salt, vermiculite, water, cotton, polyester, and polypropylene.

Price:

The price is $14.99 on Amazon, which is a great price, since a box includes 10 disposable eye masks. These masks are also recyclable! Click here to purchase these masks from Amazon. It will also be delivered quickly, if you have a Prime account.

Overall, I am highly impressed with the Reposé Self Heating Eye Mask by Ideal Concepts. I can see myself using all ten of these masks and ordering more in the future. So if you are looking for a product to relax or soothe your eye strain/puffy eyes, I highly recommend giving this product a try.

Current Beauty and Skincare Favorites

IMG_8073.JPG

I personally love it when I find new beauty and skincare products that I enjoy using. Currently, there are seven products that I have been loving, and I thought that I would share them with you!

clarins.jpeg

I have tried numerous primers before and this one is my absolute favorite. I previously enjoyed using the Benefit POREfessional primer but this one from Clarins, blurs my pores even better. When comparing the two, both are somewhat silicone-y in texture, but the Clarins primer is smoother, thinner, and more moisturizing. This product makes my foundation application look completely flawless and poreless.

Yves Saint Laurent Beauty Touche Éclat High Cover Radiant Concealer

ysl concealer.jpg

This YSL Beauty concealer has a brightening effect that makes the under eyes pop! It applies very thinly, but has amazing coverage, so it will not look cakey. I love how you have to press the bottom of the concealer for product to dispense; this allows you to have great control over how much product comes out.

Fenty Beauty Killawat Freestyle Highlighter Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal

highlighter.jpg

This highlighter is cool-toned, and looks so beautiful on fair skin. The shade on the left is more subtle, and the shade on the right is much brighter. For everyday makeup, I prefer dusting a bit of the left shade on my cheekbones. If I want a more glammed up look, I will opt for the right shade.

Yves Saint Laurent Beauty Rock ‘N Shine Lipstick Cacao Bounce

cacao.jpeg

I absolutely loved the Chanel Rouge Coco Lip in Téméraire and it was my favorite lipstick shade. Unfortunately, it is no longer being sold. I was so happy to discover this shade by YSL Beauty because it looks very similar to the Chanel one. It is a beautiful deep red shade that has subtle silver sparkles. I would say that it is fairly hydrating but nowhere near as moisturizing as their Volupté Plump-in-Color Plumping Lip Balms. Also, the silver star in the center of the lipstick is so adorable! Take a photo if you must because after using the lipstick once, the star will disappear.

Erno Laszlo White Marble Dual Phase Vitamin C Peel

peel.jpg

This two step peel has noticeably brightened and softened my skin. It is shocking that even after one use, a difference can be seen. The step 1 is a gentle exfoliator and step 2 is an activator that smoothens the skin. Although this set is pricy, I definitely believe that it is worth the money.

Sulwhasoo Bestsellers Trial Kit

I finally understand why many people love Sulwhasoo’s skincare products. After using this kit on a daily basis, I noticed that my skin was softer and more radiant. Their skincare products help people achieve that highly coveted “glass skin” look and I achieved it as well. My skin is moisturized and glowing! This is an amazing intro kit for someone who is interested in their products, but not ready to invest into the full sizes yet.

Fresh Rose Face Mask

rose.jpg

I have always heard incredible things about this face mask, so I was very excited to try it out myself. Fresh says that this is gentle enough to be used daily and it is suitable for all skin types. Apply this for 5-10 minutes, and rinse it off. Immediately, I noticed that my skin was softer. This mask includes real rose petals, and it smells so lovely!

Have you tried any of these products before? Feel free to share your favorite beauty and skincare products in the comments as well!

Love,

Emily

First Time: Eyelash Extensions

In collaboration with New York Lash Spa. All opinions are my own.

A beauty treatment that I have been very curious about is: eyelash extensions. I have seen so many people get it done and the results amazed me. I have always been interested in how they will look on monolid eyes but for some reason, I have not gotten them done before. Over the summer in 2019, I was rushing to curl my eyelashes, which resulted in some lashes getting pulled out. I should have taken my time and done it carefully. It is only noticeable when my eyes are closed but nonetheless, it is not a cute look. I knew that I had to do something about this issue. So for the new year, I decided to try something new and get eyelash extensions for the first time at New York Lash Spa! They invited me to get a complimentary Natural Look set done, which includes 90 eyelash extensions per eye.

IMG_7940.JPG

Their spa is located at 133 Grand Street, New York, NY 10013. The location is incredible because it is right by Soho and Little Italy. I love that little neon sign above their door. Remember to “treat yourself!”

I made an appointment for 11:00 AM and arrived early so that I have plenty of time to check in and take photos of the spa. Upon entering, I noticed that there was ambient music playing, which is very relaxing.

The waiting area had comfortable seats and refreshments such as water and wine. The spa has multiple private rooms so everyone is able to enjoy time alone and truly relax. They also provide other services such as microblading, massages, facial care, and full body waxing.

Immediately at 11:00 AM, I was greeted by Monika and she explained the different styles of curls and lengths that I can choose from. She asked me what look I want to achieve and I told her that I like the cat eye style (shorter eyelashes from the corner of the eye to longer eyelashes toward the end) with C curl (natural curl). If you are wondering what lashes they use, they use synthetic silk lashes for the extensions. She also noticed that some of my lashes were missing and I told her about the eyelash curler mishap, which is quite funny now. After the consultation, I lied down and she began working her magic!

Initially, I thought that I would have trouble keeping my eyes closed without twitching due to the bright light but after she put on the hydrogel eye pads, my eyes were closed and relaxed. She was very gentle and precise with her application techniques. I expected the process to take an hour and a half to two hours long but was pleasantly surprised that she completed the full set within 45 minutes! I did not have trouble opening my eyes because the lashes are so light weight. It does not feel like I have extensions on my eyes. She gave me a mirror to look at the results and it really blew my mind.

In the before photo (above), my eyelashes are not that visible and they naturally point downwards. In the after photo (below), my eyelashes are much more visible and curled. I have monolid eyelids and I love how these extensions look on my eyes. Long and curled lashes really do open up the eyes and make them appear more friendly and bright!

eyes closed before + after.jpg

In this before photo (above), you can clearly see that my eyelashes are missing. In the after photo (below), my lashes are fluttery and much fuller. I also really love the tapered cat eye look. After the application, she explained that I should avoid waterproof makeup and oil-based removers. She also noted that I should not get my eyelashes wet with water for 24-48 hours in order for the lash adhesive to fully bond with my actual lashes.

Overall, I am very impressed with how Monika applied eyelash extensions on me and I would love to visit again in the future! I had a pleasant first time experience with getting my eyelashes done and I am curious as to how long they will keep up. Thank you once again, Monika and the New York Lash Spa team for welcoming me to the spa for complimentary eyelash extensions! Now, I cannot stop fluttering my eyelashes and staring at the mirror!

If you are interested in getting your eyelashes done at New York Lash Spa, you can mention my name, “EMTHAW” or “Emily Thaw” for 50% off your appointment!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my first experience with eyelash extensions. Feel free to ask me any questions! Have you gotten eyelash extensions before? If so, how was your experience? I would love to hear about it in the comments!

Love,

Emily
